After the man, a Japanese college professor, died in 1925, the dog continued his daily vigil for nine years until his death. “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale” is based on the true story of an Akita so devoted to his master that he waited for him each day at a Tokyo train station. True, the film has made more than $40 million worldwide, but after watching it, the explanation seems abundantly clear. It’s a simple line but in the movie it felt more than a lot of words when they showed Hachi’s face. The packet that arrived from the Hallmark Channel with the screener for “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale” was topped by a faux hand-written note insisting, in an almost threatening manner: “This time you will cry for real.” It also included this odd statement: " Richard Gere has no explanation as to why the critically acclaimed film did not get a U.S. This is a line the person at the train station tells to Hachi while watching wait day after day for someone who isn’t going to come back. It told me a lot about the loyalty and friendship between a person and an animal. I didn’t bring the video here but I saw a video of the whole movie on youtube so I hope someone will watch it when they have the time. This movie was the first movie that came up to my mind when I was told to write a review of a movie related to my interest and I am happy that I have the chance to let people know about the movie. (Compound) I could see his sadness when he walked home alone every day, and his facial expressions when he was sad and happy were so nicely expressed. It’s strange to say that the dog acted really well, but he did. Even though I don’t really enjoy sad movies because movies are usually made to make people cry, I enjoyed this one because it didn’t feel like the director was forcing me to cry while watching the movie. The town people raised money to make a statue in front of Shibuya station to remember his loyalty. (Complex) A long time ago in Japan, a dog always waited in front of the train station for 9 years even after his owner died until the dog eventually dies as well. The movie ends with a picture of a statue because the movie is based on a true story. The acting of Parker’s wife when she finds Hachi in front of the train station where she hugs Hachi and cries was also very touching, so the entire movie had great sounds, acting skills and scenes making it a very memorable movie. Some scenes were in black and white to show the environment in Hachi’s eyes helping me to see the movie from a new perspective. Then, the music changes after Parker’s death which makes it more easy to really feel what the movie wants to show. He eventually dies dreaming of meeting with Parker again and the movie ends with a picture of a statue.Īs you can see from the trailer, the first part of the movie is shown with bright colours and sounds. Even after Parker dies, Hachi keeps on lying in front of the train station every day even when it’s snowing until it closes and sleeps under the train at night. That day, Parker suffers a heart attack and dies. A few days later, Hachi stops Parker leaving the house by bringing a ball and Parker is surprised because Hachi doesn’t play fetch, but he still leaves because he has to go to work. He stays there until Parker comes out leaving the train station with him and he acts like this every day. One day, Hachi leaves the house after hearing the sound of the train coming and goes and waits in front of the station. Parker leaves to the train station every morning to get to work. Even though his wife doesn’t like want to have a dog in the house, she changes her mind after watching her husband playing with the dog outside. (Compound) Later he learns that the dog’s name is ‘Hachi’ which stands for the number 8 in Japanese which is thought to be a very lucky number. He tried to leave the dog at the station, but after hearing that he would be locked up all alone he decides to bring the dog home. (Complex) Hachi was found on a train station by his grandfather, Parker Wilson. Although a few people in the room starts to laugh, he continues to talk about Hachi. The movie starts with a classroom where a boy moves to the front of the class where he talks about his hero ‘Hachi’, his grandfather’s dog.
